Our Activities
We have been learning about Dog safety and have had a visit from the Animal Control. We have also watched the Police Dogs in action on our school field to see what work they do. The children who go swimming have reported that they are enjoying the lessons and the non-swimmers have been very busy with their fitness circuit programme and Maori waiatas. At the moment we are getting ready for our exciting Amazing Adventure day here at Waiuku Primary with the highlight going to be the huge climbing wall. Or will it be the pancake cooking race!!!! Keep the money coming in please and we would love to get some more parent helpers if you are available. Also we will be participating in the annual Daffodil Day collection followed by a Daffy day parade in the hall at 2pm. All welcome to attend. Lastly we will asking for $2 for the children to attend 2 lessons on keeping their bodies healthy (Heart Central) when the Life Education Caravan visits our school in week 5 and week 6.

Japan's Earthquake and Tsunami
Japan’s Earthquake and Tsunami
If you are wondering how the tsunami happened there was an earthquake under the sea. It was too much for the sea. It went up, up, up and up. The people were standing on the building and some went missing. Do you know how many people are missing? 10,000 are missing. Some people are dead. I am sad for the babies that are dead.

In Japan there was a tsunami and the waves broke around the buildings. There is 10,000 people missing. In the tsunami the huge waves crashed the car and swirling waves 10m high came and killed the people. Some of your family might have died when the tsunami happened. There were four waves that came and crashed into the houses. One of the boats were on top of the house and some boats were all broken down. People were inside the cars or inside their houses. Some old people might have died or it could have been your mum, dad, grandma or granddad.

In Japan there was a tsunami and an earthquake under the water. There are 10,000 people missing and it was scary when they went missing. Your family might of died too! But you don’t know yet. Heaps of cars are under the water. The wave was very very high. It was 10 metres high. It was freaky when it happened on the beach for them. It was on the road and it went into the homes. The boats were damaged and your could have been killed in it. It brought four waves. The homes busted and it was in the house. It was on T.V one. All my family turned it on T.V one and they were sad. At home my nana is trying to help them and I was scared. Mum was crying loud outside. Same as my next door neighbours. They were crying. I didn’t like it. So was my sister. She was crying too! She went on and on and on. She wouldn’t stop crying. It took hours before she stopped crying.

Earthquakes
In Japan there was a big, big, big 10m tsunami. It was scary. There were 10,000 people missing and I did not go fishing because there was going to be a tsunami over here. We were scared if the tsunami was here. Then my sister started to cry as we had a fright. My sister was funny. The news was back on and it was scary too. I went to my friends and when I came back the news was still on and it was a massive wave in Japan. I saw people dead and cars and houses and people that were washed away. It was sad for me and Japan and the other people who were watching. My family is scared. Lucky the tsunami was not here as if it was her I would not be writing now. I’m sorry and I am not lying. I just feel sorry for Japan.
